Valencia Zone Conference (April 17, 2018)

This week, we had a wonderful zone conference in the Valencia. We enjoyed a leadership meeting with our zone leaders, sister training leaders, and district leaders to begin the day. President Dayton led a discussion about President Kimabal's 8 leadership principles.

During zone conference, I gave the first presentation, Flooding Spain With the Book of Mormon. Elders Beck and Farrer, the zone leaders of the Valencia, taught about recognizing the Spirit, and Hermanas LeSueur and Lima explained the Spain Barcelona Mission Emergency Plan. Following these presentations, Elder Hodgman taught us "Lecciones en Español." Elder Smith taught a teaching trick, and President ended the morning session by teaching on the topic Creating a Powerful Missionary Team at the Local Level. The missionaries also participated in a práctica (practice session) on working with ward members.

For lunch, we enjoyed a magnificent paella made by a member named Concha from valencia 3rd ward. We also had a special strawberry salad made by Hermanas LeSueur and Lima, as well as a delicious apple crumble made by Hermanas Snowden and Gibson. During lunch, the missionaries do what they call "volver e informar" (return and report). This is where they report on their baptismal goals for the last month and the current month as well as the number of baptisms they were able to see. It is an exciting and fun part of lunch.

We had a beautiful number by Elders Beck, Gardner, and Lattin, and Hermanas Lima and LeSueuer.

For the afternoon session, we began with our scriptural memorization challenge and a musical number. Elders Bristol and Dixon, the assistants, gave a presentation called "It's a Thursday" (companionship unity). We then sang "Fill the World With Love. President Dayton's afternoon teaching was titled "Using Family History to Increase Success and Retention." We concluded with a video, Missionary Work and the Atonement, and then we enjoyed a very spiritual testimony meeting.

Senior Missionaries Conference (April 10-11, 2017)

This week the Senior Zone Conference was held. It was held Tuesday and Wednesday in the Monasterio Piedra, a beautiful location close to Zaragoza. The first day of the conference each missionary companionship gave an account of their stewardship. President Dayton discussed the arrivals of the Gallis and other incoming missionary couples, the new mission boundaries, new units and buildings, and the number of missionaries that will be in the mission after the boundary change. Sister Dayton also discussed the meals for upcoming conferences, new health specialists, the Book of Mormon bookmarks, and the Character of Christ cards. Then the Daytons and the Lundbergs presented a report of “What the Lord has taught me.” President Dayton Concluded with a spiritual thought of the role of the Spirit in our lives.

The next day all the missionaries took a hike through the beautiful park of Monasterio Piedra. It rained and snowed and was quite the adventure. That afternoon everyone drove down to Zaragoza, where we also visited the “El Pilar” Cathedral, after which the retreat ended. It was a memorable experience for all.

We have a dinner for the 7 missionaries going home this transfer. During the meal, each missionary reported on the most meaningful experience of their mission, the thing they will miss most about Spain, and the one thing they will not miss about Spain. We then had a beautiful testimony meeting and ended by singing our mission song, "Brillan Rayos de Clemencia."

The missionaries prepare to board their planes and enjoy their last moments in Spain.
